About the event

Masterclass | Drum Restoration w/Jack Lawton

Join us for an unforgettable Masterclass at Drums Etc! Every month, we are hosting a different expert to share their expertise during hands-on educational workshops! This is one of many new ventures for Drums Etc in 2024. Each masterclass will be an intimate, ticketed event where you can ask questions, participate in demos, and get specialized advice and guidance!

Jack Lawton leads this incredible seminar focused on drum restoration. He will demonstrate live drum shell wrapping, gromet installation and prepping shells for finishing. This is a rare opportunity to be in the room while a master is at work! We’ll talk tools, techniques and practical advice. Even if you don’t have a project, this is a great opportunity to learn about the construction of drums and the history behind this great instrument!

Background: Since 1996, Jack Lawton Drum Company has offered quality full time vintage drum restoration for museums, collectors, dealers, other drum companies and players from around the world. Since then thousands of vintage drums have passed through our doors for anything from minor seam repairs to major reconstruction, refinishing, repairs and restoration. During that time we have taken countless phone calls, and we have answered a multitude of vintage drum related questions, including those questions featured in our Q&A column in Classic Drummer Magazine. We have also been instrumental in bringing back several vintage finishes, including the 1960’s Ludwig Oyster Blue pearl, 1960’s Rogers Red, Black, & Blue Onyx pearls, and also the 1940’s Ludwig & Ludwig Top Hat and Cane pearl, that we used on the Limited Edition Ludwig 90th Anniversary snare drums.

In addition, each attendee will receive a drum finish sample packet as a take home favor!

Tickets can be purchased below in advance, at Drums Etc, or call 717-394-3786 !
