Jake holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Environmental Studies from Gettysburg College. His teaching experience includes serving as the front ensemble instructor at Eastern York High School as well as teaching private percussion/ drum lessons. He enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels, helping them develop strong technical skills while fostering a genuine enthusiasm for music. He excels in rock and funk drumming but can teach Latin and Jazz feel as well.

As a performer, Jake has built an active career in the regional music community. His band was nominated for Best Blues Band at the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards (CPMAs), and he has worked alongside leading figures in the percussion industry. These experiences have given him valuable insight into both live performance and the broader music community.

Jake’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music should be engaging both inside and outside the practice room. He encourages students to immerse themselves in music through listening, live performances, collaboration, and exploration of their favorite artists, while simultaneously developing strong fundamentals, technique, and musicianship. By combining technical instruction with ear training, music literacy, and a passion for discovery, Jake strives to help students become confident, well-rounded musicians with a lifelong appreciation for music.
