Sherick has been studying music/theory for 20 years and has been teaching since 2002. He is involved with 3 bands: "Music in Evolution", a progressive/fusion duo where he plays drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and sings, a rock cover band "Rock Star Johnny" where he plays the drums, and also a solo project "The Axception Project" where he does everything from the first idea to the final production.

Sherick's philosophy on teaching is just like people; everyone has different musical interests. He tries to find out what excites each student, then build from there. He also strives to make each lesson relevant for the student, from teaching song structure to the student in the band, to teaching basic chords to the student wanting to sing and play at a camp fire or a church. The most important thing for Sherick is to make learning an instrument fun. His philosophy is "you don't work your instrument, you play it". Sherick has been teaching at Drums Etc. for 1 year.
